Out & About
There’s plenty to see and do throughout your stay. You’ll find lots of information in the
welcome pack, but here are a few local highlights we know you’ll love.
The Cabin provides the perfect base for exploring the
gorgeous local area, from Applecross to Skye.
Based on the edge of the village of Letterfearn, The Cabin is an ideal retreat for couples, small families and anyone
who wants to relax in the Scottish Highalnds. After a day of exploring the Isle
of Skye, you can head back home via the Glenelg-Skye Ferry, making for a
memorable day with amazing views. The
Glenelg-Skye Ferry is the last manually operated, turntable ferry in Scotland
and regularly attracts visitors from all over the world.
The iconic Eilean Donan Castle is a short drive away in the
village of Dornie. Located on its very
own island, the Castle has incredible views of the Isle of Skye. The castle is open for tours between the
months of March and December. Why not
spend a day exploring the castle, inside and out, before heading back to The
Cabin?
Don’t fancy cooking on holiday? The Clachan - one of our personal favourites - and the Dornie Hotel, both
located in nearby Dornie, have amazing food, perfect for a lovely meal
out. Closer to The Cabin, you’ll find the
Kintail Lodge Hotel. If you’re coming back from a day on the Isle of Skye, we recommend the
Fisherman’s Kitchen in Kyle for some delicious fresh seafood – either to take
home and cook or enjoy as a ready-made takeaway.
Nearby village shops are based in Inverinate Service Station (7.5 miles away)
or Reraig Spar (17 miles away.) The nearest
supermarket is the Kyle of Lochalsh Co-op, around 21 miles away from The Cabin. Basic provisions such as bread and milk are also available at Kintail Crafts shop in Ault a' Chruinn (4.9 miles away).
Wherever you decide to venture on your holiday, The Cabin is perfectly placed for you to enjoy the wilderness of the Scottish Highlands in peace and quiet.
